Toshiba Corp has mostly given up on the $18 billion sale of its chip unit to a Bain Capital-led group, because Chinese antitrust approval is unlikely to come soon, the Wall Street Journal reported May 9. Toshiba in September agreed to sell its NAND flash-memory unit to the Bain group, but the deal has been waiting for approval from antitrust regulators in China, the story said.
